Sunday Kids Church
The lesson was out of the beatitudes: Admitting my Sin. I preached to the kids that it was important to keep everything in the light.

The service starts out with prayer. Any child that wants to open in prayer can and most do. I is my desire that the kids go deeper into their faith on Sundays. This service is much different than Wednesday or Saturday in that there is more teaching and kids “doing” church. (Act out lesson)

Beatitudes: The lesson this past Sunday was an attitude we’d like the children to have. That is one of feeling bad about sin. “Blessed are those that mourn, for they shall be comforted.”

I had the kids write different sins on the board and we discussed how horrible those sins were. We need to feel bad when we see sin. Many of the kids repented for the sins they felt were in their hearts.

Saturday Kidz—There were 13 kids that were bussed in. The teaching was “I will ask for help.” We need each other. I told the kids they needed to ask advice from teachers, parents and good friends. We did the lesson through games and video.

What is sin?

Sin is disobeying God.

Why should I admit my sin?

God will forgive and comfort us when we admit our sins and do our best not to do them again. He has given us the Holy Spirit to help us become more like Jesus in our attitudes and actions. When we ask God to forgive our sins, we should be so sorry that our attitudes and behaviors toward others should change. Others should be able to tell that when we say, “I’m sorry,” we really mean it and we prove it by not repeating the wrong things we’ve done.

God Created Man

When God created man, he made him in the likeness of God. He created them male & female and blessed them. And … he called them “man”. Genesis 5:1,2

Don’t the fossils show a clear pattern of men evolving from apes?

The fossils show no such thing. The only place you find a line of creatures gradually changing from an ape to a man is in pictures in books, not in any physical evidence. In fact, all of the so-called “links” between apes and men have been proven to be either hoaxes or misinterpreted evidence. For example:

*Neanderthal man was identical to modern humans but with a bad case of rickets
*Ramapithecus was later found to be no more than an extinct ape, not a link.
*Nebraska man was nothing more than a tooth that was later found to have come from a pig.
*Java man is now regarded as completely human.
*Australopithecus africanus is now considered to be completely ape-like.
*Peking man has been reclassified as completely human.

Similarities between men and apes does not prove evolution. To illustrate: Compare the similarities between a Porsche and a Volkswagen. Why do these cars have so many similarities? Because they were made by the same designer. Similarity in design points to one Designer, God, as opposed to many designers.

Questions to ponder:

Don't fossils prove that dinosaurs lived millions of years before man did?

Evidence of humans and dinosaurs living together has been found in the fossil record. For instance, human and dinosaur footprints have been found together in many places in the world. This matches the biblical account which states that "all the creatures that move along the ground" were created on Day 6, the same day that God created man.

Did birds evolve from dinosaurs?

This theory is receiving tremendous support from some scientists and science magazines, but not all evolutionists agree with it. Here are some of the problems:

Scales and feathers are made of different material. And what good are scales that are in the midst of evolving? They are no use for protection and cannot yet help the animal to fly. If such a mutation took place, the animal would not live long.

Birds have no bladder

Birds have hollow bones

Birds have a much stronger heart that beats at a much faster rate.

Results of a study done some years ago showed the American public admitted to lying, by deception or outright untrue statements, many times a day! How much damage must be done to human relationships by lifestyles of consistent lying—not to mention peoples relationship with God!
What would we discover if we evaluated our own conversation? As was discussed last week with stealing, lying covers more situations than at first meets the eye. Being deceptive or purposely holding back part of the truth is actually lying. Exaggerations of the truth and generalizations of a truth are untruths.
Lying is a common problem among children. A lie can protect them from punishment, help them in a tight situation, or make them seem important to someone else.
DO: Use this session to impress upon the children that lying is sin.E

Don’t Steal

Goals: Learn that stealing is wrong & Ask for God’s help to resist when tempted to steal

In studying the 10 Commandments some children may think, I never do things like that, and see no reason for self-examination, when discussing the commandments on stealing, children may think only of bank robberies, muggings, and shoplifting. Stealing, however, extends to taking anything that doesn’t belong to us. For adults it includes the extra deductions taken on your tax return or the minutes you stole from the company by taking a longer than allotted break. For children it includes the taking of a toy the neighbor child never plays with anyway or stealing someone’s homework answers .

Good marriages make strong, happy homes. The church realizes this. Secular society, however, has an opposing value system. It promotes doing what feels good, no matter how it affects the family unit. Infidelity is encouraged through novels, magazines, TV shows, and movies. What a terrible message is being sent to our children.
Children need to believe that what God’s Word says is what will always be true. Marriage needs to be based on lifelong loyalty to God and to one’s spouse. Anything short of this brings injury to the family and punishment from God himself
PRAY: for the Holy Spirit to put a strong conviction into the children’s heart to live out what God says is right.
TEACH: The children ways they can keep their thoughts and actions pure in the midst of an impure society.

Grasping the Purpose

God reveals His vision to us if we are willing to work with Him to grasp it. The sense of significance that vision provides us is irreplaceable. It is the missing link in the lives of most Christians - the absent bridge that prevents them from crossing from survival and salvation to sustainable significance. We come to discover that vision through a concerted time of intense prayer, vision-focused Bible study, situational analysis, self-awareness (with appropriate repentance, humility and self-confidence) and wise counsel. Together, these resources bring about a transformation in our understanding of life in general, and personal ministry in great detail.

Personal note: A study by Ken Ham that says 2/3 of the children in church now will not attend church by the time they are 20. That's alarming. We're teaching the children about significance right now. They need to know their purpose right now.

We've all experienced peer pressure - yet, in our media-saturated culture it's easy to conclude that our children are facing more peer pressure than we did. They are bombarded with mixed messages, too.
The peer pressure of "cool clothing".
The peer pressure to experience sex, drugs and join a gang.
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. (Hebrews 13:8) He doesn't change, and His power is not diminished. When we lead our kids to Him and they allow His power to flow through their lives, our children can live in victory. And in that victory, peer pressure doesn't have a chance to prevail.
